This visa is based on the “Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Republic of Panama and the Republic of Italy“.
This treaty has its origins in the year 1966 and was ratified through a Law, as is the case of Law 15.

This treaty gives Italians the benefit of being able to be in the territory of Panama with a Status of Permanent Residents of Panama.

Any person who has the nationality of Italy can apply for this type of visa, and if they meet the requirements, they are granted a Panama Resident visa for life.

Requirements:
The requirements to obtain residence in Panama through this visa for Italians include:
- Enter Panama with an Italian passport.
- Notary power.
- Notarized application.
- Five (5) passport size photos.
- Present a copy of the duly notarized passport.
- Present the criminal record certificate.
- Present the respective health certificate.
- Document that demonstrates the purpose of the residence (economic or professional activity to be carried out)
- Copy of the identity document or Italian residence card.
- Form of Sworn Declaration of Personal Records.
- Proof of sufficient economic solvency of the applicant, which can be done through a bank certification or account statement for the last month that reflects a balance of at least four average figures.
- Certified check for B/250 in favor of the National Treasury.
- In the case of dependents: letter of responsibility / proof of relationship / proof of address.
