New Guidelines for foreigners who are Completing Immigration Procedures
The National Migration Service of Panama (SNM) has communicated through the Resolution number 636, publicly announcing: the validity of residence permits for foreigners that expired as of March 13, 2020 is extended until 30, June 2021.
It is noteworthy that these extensions are produced as the result of an analysis of the current situation generated by the Corona Virus pandemic.
According to the cited resolution, the extension applies to the following procedures:
- provisional permit card,
- non-resident visas, judicial residence card,
- immigration regularization card and stay for tourism;
All permits or stays that expire within the aforementioned period will not generate fines as a consequence of their expiration.
In addition, it extends until June 30, 2021, the period in which permanent residents, who are outside the Country, can remain like this, without this situation leading to the sanction stipulated in Article 31, Number 3, of the Decree Law No. 3 of February 22, 2020.
It is also important to mention the fact that birth and marriage certificates are established as valid, if those have been issued and have expired during the period from March 13,2020 to January 31, 2021. Said validity will be recognized until June 30, 2021.
