Modification of the requirements for immigration permits
With the promulgation of Executive Decree 197, of May 7, 2021, changes are established in the subcategory of “permanent resident” in Panama for those foreigners who come from countries that maintain friendly, professional, economic and investment relations with the Republic of Panama.
Executive Decree 197 explains in detail which are the nationalities of foreigners who can opt for an immigration permit as a “permanent resident” in Panama, establishing that these permits may only be granted for employment reasons, for investment in a property property.
The norm also establishes the additional requirements that must be supplied by foreigners who are interested in receiving this immigration treatment.
It is important to point out that interested foreigners can find the information, the list of nationalities that apply for this procedure and the requirements that are required of them, on the website of the National Migration Service.
Executive Decree 197 will take effect after 90 days of its promulgation.
