Panama: GDP 2021
Panama is the second country, after Peru, with the highest GDP growth rate projected for 2021, according to ECLAC.
It is important that the Economic activity is expected to increase 5.5%, after having experienced this year the following: a drop close to 11%.
“I have a positive vision,” says Moreno, because in the last quarter of this year there have been signs that speak of a reactivation, such as, for example, the resumption of commercial and financial activities by Copay airline.
Regardless of the problems caused by the pandemic Covid-19, Panama has a good risk rating according to international agencies, adds the economist, something that contributes to the speed of the recovery.
The primary piece of the economy, the Panama Canal, has also started to have good signs.
“We hope that world trade will recover in 2021 and that this will continue to positively influence the reactivation of trade flows in the channel’s activities”, explains Titelman, from ECLAC.
“We also expect an increase in domestic trade, especially in construction and financial services,” he adds.
