The official recognition process is called degree homologation in Panama, or “homologación de títulos” in Spanish.
You apply through the General Secretary of the University and if successful, your degree will be deemed equivalent to a Panamanian degree.
a. Simple application letter addressed to the General Secretary of the University (Mgter. Nereida Elizabeth Herrera Tuñón), in which you will detail your general information, the title you wish to obtain and any other pertinent information.
b. Diploma duly authenticated by Panamanian diplomatic or consular authorities accredited in the country of origin and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama or the Apostille Seal.
c. Newsletter or other official publication of the University that awarded the title, where the data on the Academic System of the Institution, Study Plan and Program of the Subjects, Thesis (where the Master’s Degree is Academic) authenticated by the diplomatic or consular authorities are accredited in the country of origin and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama or Apostille Seal.
d. Record of Qualifications corresponding to the subjects studied, duly authenticated by the Panamanian diplomatic consular authorities accredited in the country of origin and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama or Apostille Seal.
e. Passport or updated birth certificate that proves the nationality of the interested party, duly authenticated by Panamanian diplomatic or consular authorities accredited in the country of origin and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama.
f. Two passport-size photographs.
g. * Certified check in the name of the University of Panama or Cash, for the sum of five hundred balboas (B /. 500.00), as a right to homologation, which is paid at the general cash desk.
h. Any other document, (Thesis, research work) that can contribute to a better evaluation of your studies.
i. Certificate of Equivalence for Foreigners of the Degree, issued by the University of Panama.
Observations – Degree homologation in Panama:
- All documents issued in other languages must be presented duly translated into Spanish by an official translator.
2. The originals of all the documents must be presented.
3. Present One (1) set of copies of points c and h.
4. Present Original receipt of payment of B / .500.00 and two copies.
5. Present Two (2) sets of copies of points a, b, d, e, g and i
6. Present the documents in yellow envelope that is paid in the General Cashier and is withdrawn in the General Secretariat, window No. 1. (Approved in the Administrative Council No. 01-05, of January 26, 2005)
7. (*) The amount paid will not be refunded (Approved in the Administrative Council No. 5-15 of May 29, 2015).
8. All documentation is to be delivered to the Section of Teaching Records of the General Secretariat.
